Lectures and WorkshopsI have taught art and science to a wide variety of groups ranging from university students to youth in public housing projects. Also, I have an active apprenticeship program in my studio. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and guiding others. I strive to be sensitive to the needs and desires of the students to create a collaborative atmosphere that facilitates self-discovery. I am particularly interested in offering classes that allow participants to form a deeper connection to the environment and their deeper creative selves. Here are my current offerings. I expect to add other topics!Product Design for the Environment (Lecture): for adultsCurrently tailored to an engineering audience*, this lecture provides an overview of current thinking and methods used to address waste and create more intelligent research and products. Terms such as sustainable design, green engineering, and design for the environment are defined and explained. Specific examples and tools illustrate the benefits of rethinking the way we design processes and products. A healthier environment implies broad consequences: better health, more productive business, and a more enjoyable society. *I can modify the content for other audiences such as designers or the general public.Products and Art with Recycled Glass (Workshop or Lecture) –for adultsLearn about the basics of glass fusing using discarded bottles.
